Radicchio is a persistent cultivated form of leaf chicory sometimes known as Italian chicory due to its common use in Italian food. It is grown as a leaf veggie and has colorful white-veined red leaves. Radicchio has a spicy and bitter flavor which mellows if it's grilled or roasted. Radicchio is simple to grow but performs best in autumn and spring / fall gardens. It prefers more regular however, not deep watering, the quantity of water varying is dependent on soil type.
